Planning & Zoning
The Angus City Council serves as the Planning & Zoning Commission.
The Planning & Zoning Commission reviews proposed amendments to zoning ordinances, site plans and plat applications and makes decisions regarding the current and future development of the City of Angus.
If you wish to have zoning changed on a property in Angus, the property owner must fill out a form in the office of the City Secretary and pay the filing fee of $250.00. A letter will then be sent to any person who owns property whose property line falls within 200 feet of the property for which you are requesting the zoning change. Residents receiving letters will be given one month to respond to the City with their approval or protest of your request. A public hearing will be held after this month has passed. Any interested parties will be able to voice their opinions on the zoning change request to the City Council at this time. The Council will take into consideration all facts and opinions addressed at this public hearing and will vote on whether to approve your request at the first Council Meeting following the Public Hearing.
The Public Hearing is an information gathering tool that enables the Council to hear facts and opinions from residents regarding the proposed zoning change. The City Council will vote in favor of what they feel is in the best interest of the city and its residents, regardless of the outcome of the Public Hearing.
